General Support

The Connecticut Catholic Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit Catholic community foundation and trusted charitable giving expert that partners with generous individuals, families, and organizations to raise the quality of life in the Archdiocese of Hartford and beyond through philanthropy. 


In service to parishes, schools, and Catholic ministries, CCF stewards resources and provides sophisticated, faith-based investment management services that help organizations across the Archdiocese align financial stewardship with Catholic values while supporting long-term sustainability.


Support provides flexible resources to sustain Foundation operations, expand charitable grantmaking, and address the needs of parishes, schools, and ministries across the Archdiocese of Hartford.

Parishes

Home to 92 parishes and missions across Hartford, Litchfield, and New Haven Counties, the Archdiocese of Hartford serves more than 432,000 Catholics. Our parishes are the spiritual and communal center for Catholic life, offering worship, faith formation, sacramental ministries, charitable outreach, and pastoral support. They serve as vibrant centers of faith  and community, enriching the lives of individuals and families across the Archdiocese.


As a trusted partner , the Connecticut Catholic Foundation supports parishes by stewarding charitable resources and providing investment services that will help sustain faith communities for generations to come.

Education

With 38 Catholic schools serving over 9,000 students, the Archdiocese of Hartford is dedicated to providing an exceptional education rooted in faith and Gospel values. Catholic education combines a rigorous academic curriculum with spiritual and moral development to nurture the whole student. Welcoming students from all backgrounds, the Archdiocese celebrates human dignity, promotes equality, and fosters respect.


The Connecticut Catholic Foundation is committed to strengthening the future of Catholic education throughout the Archdiocese of Hartford. Through stewarding philanthropic partnerships and investment management services, CCF helps schools build long-term financial sustainability and ensure that a faith-filled, values-centered Catholic education remains accessible to generations of students to come.

Other Ministries

The Archdiocese of Hartford's ministries extend beyond parish life and Catholic education to serve the spiritual, charitable, and pastoral needs of individuals and families throughout Connecticut. Through programs that provide assistance to vulnerable populations, promote social justice and multicultural outreach, support seminarians and priests, uphold the dignity of human life, and advance the Church's evangelization efforts, these ministries bring the Gospel to people of all backgrounds.

    St. Damien Molokai Parish Fund: To support St. Damien Molokai Parish in Windsor, CT.


    St. Francis de Sales Fund: To support St. Francis de Sales Parish in Bristol, CT.


    St. Joachim Parish Fund: To support St. Joachim Parish in New Britain, CT.


    St. Louis de Montfort Parish Fund: To support St. Louis de Montfort parish in Litchfield, CT.


    St. Peter Claver Fund: To support St. Peter Claver Church in West Hartford, CT.


    St. Raphael Parish Fund: To support St. Raphael Parish in Milford, CT.

  • Education Funds

    Catholic Academy of Hartford Fund: To support the Catholic Academy of Hartford opening on 765 Asylum Avenue, Hartford, CT 06105.


    Children's Care & Welfare Fund: To support capital grants and operating subsidies for programs conducted by affiliates of the Archdiocese of Hartford or other non-profit entities within the geographic boundaries of the Archdiocese of Hartford that support the health, development, and general welfare of children. Capital grants to Archdiocesan Schools and Parochial Schools within the Archdiocese of Hartford for projects that improve the physical learning environment or abate or remediate a hazardous condition within a school. 


    Education Fund: To provide resources that support educational initiatives in schools throughout the Archdiocese of Hartford.


    Heneghan Fund: To support education and Catholic schools in financial need.


    St. Damien Molokai School Fund: To support St. Gabriel School in Windsor, CT. 


    Therese Grillo Trust: Distributions are divided equally to support the Archdiocese of Hartford Archbishop's Appeal and Saint Lawrence School in West Haven, CT.

  • Other Funds

    Archbishop Leonard P. Blair Fund: To support parishes, schools, and social ministries across the Archdiocese of Hartford.


    Artale Endowed Fund: To support the Adult Development Services (ADS) program at Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Hartford.


    Benevolent Association for Priests Fund: To support the Benevolent Association for Priests of the Archdiocese of Hartford.


    Catholic Mission Aid Society Fund: To support the Catholic Mission and Society of the Archdiocese of Hartford.


    Catholic Social Justice Fund: To support social justice and multiculutral activities/programs.


    Danek/Drozd Fund: To provide scholarship assistance for men entering or attending seminary in preparation for ordination as Roman Catholic priests within the Archdiocese of Hartford.


    Irene McCabe Vicariate Outreach Fund: To support the Archbishop's Annual Appeal Vicariate Outreach Program for the benefit of charities in the Northern Vicariate region.


    James & Catherine Smith Fund: To support social ministries of the Archdiocese of Hartford that serve the poor and those in need, including, but not limited to, affordable housing, food pantries, need-based scholarships for Catholic education, and other social services.


    Kiely Fund: To support the rehabilitation of priests of the Archdiocese who are suffering from mental or emotional illness.


    O'Connor King Fund: To support the promotion of liturgical music throughout the Archdiocese of Hartford.


    Office of Radio and Television Fund: To support the Office of Radio and Television Fund.


    St. Agnes Home Fund: To support Pro-life ministry and crisis pregnancy programs.


    Therese Grillo Trust: Distributions are divided equally to support the Archdiocese of Hartford Archbishop's Appeal and Saint Lawrence School in West Haven, CT.


    WJMJ Radio Fund: To support capital grants and operating subsidies to support the operation of the WJMJ Radio Station.

IRA Rollover

Under federal tax law, a donor aged 70½ or older may make charitable distributions directly from his or her IRA to the CCF without incurring taxable income. The gift must come directly from the donor’s IRA administrator to the Foundation and can satisfy all or some portion of the required minimum distribution for the year. While there is no charitable deduction for such a gift, the donor avoids payment of income tax on the required minimum distribution that would otherwise be paid to him or her. The total of an individual’s rollover gifts in any one calendar year cannot exceed $111,000. The limit will be adjusted annually for inflation, allowing your gift to keep pace with economic shifts.

To recommend a one-time or recurring grant from your Donor-Advised Fund, please contact your fund advisor or United Way Campaign Representative.
